Women's Tennis Begins 2018 Campaign with 6-3 Triumph over Rutgers-Newark

NEWARK, N.J. - September 1, 2018 - The Pratt Institute women's tennis team defeated Rutgers-Newark, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon on The Golden Dome Courts in their first match of the 2018 season.

With the victory, the Cannoneers improve to 1-0, while the Scarlet Raiders move to 0-1.

Pratt dominated the doubles play, with wins from the duos of Melanie Kania and Amy Young (8-4), Caroline Madden and Maia Schlussel (8-3), and Isabel Campbell and Sarah Kerr (8-6).

Rutgers-Newark fought back during singles play, winning three of the first four matches. Amy Young was able to knock off her opponent in the second singles slot, 6-4. 6-1.

The last two matches were all Pratt, as Isabel Campbell defeated Merna Kamel (7-5), and freshman Eesha Jain won her first collegiate match, 6-4, 6-2.
