BROOKLYN, NY – The Pratt Institute men's tennis team defeated the Blue Angels of New Rochelle 9-0 in non-conference play on Friday evening.
In singles action, reigning HVIAC Rookie of the Week Ben Erickson continued his stellar season, winning in convincing fashion 10-1. In No. 2 singles, Rongxin Zhang followed suit, recording his own 10-1 decision as the Cannoneers raced to an early 2-0 lead. Pratt would sweep the remaining singles matches, capped off by Taeyoung Chang's 10-3 performance.
In doubles play, the tandem of Erickson and Zhang improved to 4-1 on the season with an 8-0 decision. Eli Eskenazi and Simon Salazar kept Pratt's perfect evening intact with an easy 8-0 victory. Hubert Chen and Johnson Meng completed the Cannoneer sweep, posting an 8-2 win that leveled Pratt's record to 3-3 (2-1 HVIAC) on the season. The loss drops New Rochelle to 0-3.
Pratt returns to again on Saturday, April 15, with a crucial conference away contest against Vaughn College. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
